Tomiko van den Hoek-Kaneko
Studied piano with Prof. Kazuko Tsuruta in the Musashino Musik college in Tokyo and learnt the German musical style during her studies with Prof. Wolfgang Manz in Karlsruhe and Prof. Franz Massinger in Munich. Tomiko Kaneko was awarded the 1996 Laureat at the Maria Canals competition in Barcelona.
The Japanese Rotary Club gave her the “Paul Harris Fellow” prize in 2001 in recognition of her promising developments.
Recently she has concentrated on works for piano duets and chamber music with her husband Martyn van den Hoek .
She is the founder of the Wiedner Klaviertrio with members of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Trio Elyseé Nagoya.
She is a co-founder of the Cordignano quintet, the other members being  from the Lower Austria Tonkünstler Orchestra and founder of the the Equinox Trio, musicians all born around the middle of March.
She has also appeared with  leading members of the Baroque Soloists of Berlin, a distinghuised  for a  Japanese. As the  Japanese representative of the  Bad Aussee Summer Festival, she succesfully combines her insights of musical and logistic abilities for the many visitors from Asia over the last 10 years.
Listening to Tomiko Kaneko, you can perceive all the qualities a young musician needs for successful career. Her piano playing is a balancing act between the fragile and the energetic. Precision and clarity go hand in hand with the quest for the architecure and structure of the music.
