Shared joy is double joy!

Either with a duopartner or as a Quartett or with an (chamber)orchestra, ” the Spielfreude of Mr. van den Hoek makes us dazzle, no wishes left….”( le Meridien, 11 October 2006)

Also Hammerfluegel from the period 1830 – 1880 interest him very much. Central Europaen instruments from Chopins and Dvorak’s days, French piano’s from Liszts days ” communicate a sound picture of the 19th century, Martyn van den Hoek has resurrected Franz Liszt”…( Utrechts Nieuwsblad, 11 Juni 2007)

Martyn van den Hoek composes and transcribes chambermusic..Since 2004 he wrote extensive transcriptions such as Chopins 2. pianoconcerto accompanied by Stringsextett; Saint-Saens’ Danse Macabre for 2 Piano’s 8-hands and piano 4-hands with Violin and Cello, as well as Liszt’s 1. Pianoconcerto with Wind Ensemble.

Lately, music for 4-hands piano has his intense interest. With his wife Tomiko Kaneko programs were performed, often based on rare scores such as Strauss’ “Till Eulenspiegel” . Programmatic Works, such as Strawinsky’s “Petrushka” are regularly performed as a musical theater production.

Cooperation with the Dutch Puppet Theater “The Zwarte Doos” (Black Box, www.marionettentheaterdiewerkelmanner.nl) resulted in performances all over Europe since 2006
